X RAY
X-ray sorting technologies take advantage of the info reflected or provided by some material when exposed to X-ray high energy electromagnetic radiations emitted by a proper source.
The SGM X-ray sorters take advantage of three different X-ray technologies which are: X-ray Transmission, X-ray Fluorescence and X-ray Back-Scattering.
The X-ray Transmission is a through beam technology taking advantage of the penetrating form of the X-ray high-energy electromagnetic radiations while the Fluorescence and Back Scattering are X-ray surface technologies taking advantage of the specific emission of electrons by some material when exposed to an X-ray source.
The main applications of the SGM X-ray sorters are:
- Separation of light metals (Al, Mg,…) from heavy metals, (Cu, Zn, Pb,…)
- Separation of aluminum alloys between them (with special focus on the 3000, 5000 and 6000 series).
- Separation of heavy metals between them.
- Separation of polymers based on density.
